What are these trainers? What do they do to the body? How do I use them? Is there anything that Ishould be worried about when using this equipment? Which type is most suitable for me? Are there any safety issues related to this?

Here are the Answers to These Questions In Detail

What are Waist Trainers?

Waist trainers are used for reshaping the waist or body gradually and safely. They are crafted by combining the use of fabric and steel rods. This equipment molds the body into an hour glass shape by transferring fat from the mid-section (abdomen) to other parts of the body (below your bust and above your hips). Steel ribs are used to hold the same posture for a long time, which is a seriously important part of waist training.

There are basically two types of trainers: Corsets and Cinchers. Both work in slightly different ways, but the outcome is same in both cases.

We’ll dig into the details shortly…but first, let’s talk origins…

History of the Waist Trainer:

Here are some facts:

  • Waist cinching/training was a common practice in the 18th and early 19th century among women in America and Europe, especially those who were into the fashion and glamor world.
    The history of waist trainers
  • Steel boning was the trend for “waist training” – a process in which the laces of the corset (a type of traditional waist trainer) were tightened to attain the smaller or ideal waist size.
  • In the early 19th century, the practice of using waist trainers reached its peak but the size and design changed according to the style of the time.
  • In the early 20th century, use of corsets started again in the Steampunk fashion movement.

Types of Waist Trainers:

To learn the proper techniques of waist training, let’s explore the basic definitions.  There are two types of trimmers used in training: Steel-boned corsets and latex waist trainers or cinchers.
Steel Boned Corset & Latex Waist Trainer

What you need to know about Waist Trainers or Cinchers (Latex)

  • Waist trainers or cinchers are used to give a slimming effect underneath the clothes – specifically targeting the abdomen. When worn, cinchers can reduce 1-2 inches off your waist.
  • These are designed with a latex-nylon combination. In some cases, the waist cinchers are made with plastic ribs.
  • Waist cinchers are helpful in clearly defining the waistline but do not help much when it comes to giving the ideal hourglass shape effect.

Here’s what you need to know about Steel-boned Corsets

  • Steel-Boned Corsets are a combination of flexibility and strength. Steel rods are used for stability and fabric is used for cinching the waist to put emphasis on your bust line and hips to get the desired shape.
  • Corsets work similarly to back braces. They ensure you maintain your posture. Slouching is a big no no…
  • They reshape the body by redistributing fat from the abdomen and transferring it below your bust and above the hips.

Major Differences Between the Two:

  • Corsets are designed with laces for cinching whereas waist cinchers use hooks and eyes to achieve the same effect.
  • Let’s not beat around the bush…steel corsets are not comfortable to wear, especially for long periods of time. However, you can comfortably wear and sleep in cinchers.
  • Corsets definitely have more style! They come in a variety of design and curve options. Cinchers…eh…not so much. You’ll likely want to wear it under your clothes.
    Stylish Corset
  • It is fairly easy to hide mesh corsets under clothing, but their bulky weight can be a nuisance. Cinchers are comparatively lighter than corsets.

How to Choose the Best Option For You?

Corsets are notably easier to tighten with the help of metal loops and steel. Front busk can be fastened easily with the back laces. Corsets are made to contour your body to fit your your body type. And if you are into different styles, designs and curve options, then a corset is right for you.

On the other hand, if you want a comfort and extended use, then cinchers are the way to go. They are best to workout in and sleep in. Also they can provide the required support and comfort to your back around the clock. Finally, they are lighter and less bulky and can be easily hidden under the clothes.

How Do Waist Trimmers Work?

When we talk about the modification of internal organs’ position and distribution of fat with waist training, a common question that arises is how does this happen exactly? Do my hips get modified or the hip bones change their position?

The answer to these questions is an emphatic NO! Hip bone don’t move! So, what causes the shape of the waist change?

It all happens with the modification of the floating ribs (two bottom ribs). These ribs are gradually pulled inwards with the usage of waist trimmers thus morphing the body into an hourglass shape.

Let’s not ignore the facts! Waist training requires some commitment. If you think that you can use waist training just once and your body will remain the same for years, then I hate to break it to you…you are overestimating the magic of waist trimmers. The truth is you will have to continue training to maintain your shape or you could lose that hourglass figure.

Keep These Points in Mind Before Starting Waist Training

Whether you choose corsets or cinchers, it is important to learn the basic rules and steps for successful and effective waist training.

  • Body Type:   Take your body type into consideration while selecting a trimmer. Focus on what will be more comfortable and easy to wear, not what will give you better results. The longer you continue the training, the better your results will be.
  • Quality:  Never compromise on quality when it comes to the waist trainers. A poor-quality trainer can negatively affect your health, particularly your back.
  • Proper Fitting and Size:  Choosing the wrong fit/size will make your training journey extremely uncomfortable. Some people assume that they will get faster results if they choose a smaller, tighter fit, but this is a pure myth. Wear a properly fitted waist trainer to avoid any health issues in the future.

Do’s and Don’ts

  • Don’t wear your trainer for a long period if you are wearing it for the first time. Get used to it first.
  • Do remove it immediately if it starts causing more discomfort than expected.
  • Don’t wear if it starts getting painful or causes an allergy to your body (i.e. latex allergy). Consult your doctor before reusing it.
  • Don’t lace up your cincher too tightly.
  • Don’t put excessive force on it to get quicker results. It can cause damage to both your body and the equipment.
  • Do give your body some time to adjust to the changes caused by wearing the trimmer.
  • Don’t exercise in it if you are wearing a steel-boned corset. It’s not that flexible.
  • Don’t expect magical results immediately.
  • Do choose the larger size if you undecided between two sizes. You can always tighten it accordingly.

But, Wait! There’s More…
Advantages of Waist Trainers

Apart from achieving the hourglass figure, there are many other advantages of waist training that you should know about:

  • Limits Food Consumption:  If you wear a corset during meal times, it reduces your capacity of food consumption. This is good if you want to lose the weight during the waist training.
  • Back Pain Relief:  It provides support to the bustline thus giving relief to women with larger breasts suffering from back pain or pressure.
  • Additional Fashion Accessory:  Wearing corset underneath clothes is not the only option you have. You can add it as an accessory to your apparel since there are a variety of fashionable and stylish corsets available. You can waist train while partying! Not a bad deal if you ask me…
  • Better Posture:  You cannot slouch while wearing a corset which will improve your posture and providing relief to your spine.
  • Extra Warmth in the Winter:  During those cold winter days, corsets can be a great undergarment for extra body warmth.
  • Back Injury Pain Relief:  It’s also very helpful in providing support to the back in the case of actual diagnosed back injury and pain.

Disadvantages of Waist Trainers

Every coin has two sides. Apart from the long list of advantages of waist trainers, there are some disadvantages related to their use if you don’t utilize them properly.

  • Restricted Movement:  Due to the rigid corset structure, it will be difficult for you to move freely.
  • Fashion Disaster:  If worn under transparent/light colored clothes, it can turn into a fashion disaster!
  • Uncomfortable:  There’s a feeling of slight discomfort when you wear the corset for an extended period of time.
  • Shallow Breathing:  Your breathing can be shallow due to the pressure caused by the waist training.
  • Pressure:  Excessive pressure can be felt if you lace up the corset too tightly.
  • Mood Swings:  As the fat gets redistributed to various parts of the body, there is a chance of mood swings also.
  • Acid Reflux:  Due to the excessive compression and reduction in the digestive tract, acid flux can occur. It is recommended not to wear it during meal times.

Safety Issues with Waist Trainers

There are many people who criticize waist trimmers and its after-effects but the reality is that they are completely safe to use. There is no harm caused to the body if you use them carefully and properly.

  • Waist training can be helpful for back pain relief as it provides support to the back and is beneficial if used after back surgeries.
  • It can also provide relief from scoliosis pain.
  • As the saying goes, “Anything, if done in excess, is harmful”. This applies to waist trainers also. You need to be extra careful during waist training especially when it comes to managing use-time. Spending excessive time in a trainer can cause shallow breath, back pain and bruised ribs.
  • Using waist trimmers for longer periods of time or excessively tight cinching can also be a problem.  It can cause the displacement of organs and can affect a woman’s reproductive organs, causing issues in pregnancy.

But let us not forget some facts while discussing the advantages of waist trimmers. With its usage, you will not lose weight. This is not a weight loss technique. Fat gets redistributed to other parts of the body. If you are planning to lose weight, then a healthy diet and exercise regimine is still the best way to go.

In a nutshell, waist training is a great solution for a perfect hourglass figure. All you need is to follow the recommendations and guideline above to ensure safe and successful waist training results. If you are planning to start waist training, we wish you luck on your journey to fabulousness!

Mimi xxvi that’s what am finding hard to believe….I mean I’ve gone through all her videos and everyone has been begging and asking for a workout routine and she hasn’t responded on that . Also can we see proper BEFORE Pictures of what she used to look like. Even on her instagram there’s not really much of a before. I mean I was slim for the majority of my 30 years until I went on Apetamin and it has changed myself and some of my other friends from top to bottom. We all gained differently EVERYWHERE AND yes in the stomach area. I’m just sensing else has gone on…..just waiting for her to prove me wrong. It’s good to see she’s happy with her ‘new weight’, I am too cuz trust me I know how it felt to be skinny and not looking your age but I just hope it’s genuine.

Denise Antoine, well I believe that the product is suppose to make you gain weight. Maybe you just have to be lucky enough to gain it in the right places. Maybe you did gain it everywhere just have to train your stomach to be flat. Maybe just work on abs for exercise and squat with weights? ??‍♀️
